“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves; we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.” 2 Corinthians 4:7-10
I pray that I am ever mindful of the wonderful treasure I carry around in this fragile human vessel. If I accomplish anything today it will be through the surpassing greatness of the Holy Spirit within and not from my own power. I will not give up nor will I despair because I know God will never leave me or forsake me. Today I thank God for His Word that speaks life to me, that through Christ’s death on the cross I can be alive and empowered by the precious Holy Spirit. Today I will pledge to look to Him and to His Word for help and for strength whenever I feel afflicted, perplexed or disappointed.
What a treasure, the precious Holy Spirit within our fragile human vessels to pick us up when we are afflicted, to cheer us when we are perplexed and to minister peace, joy and hope so that others can see Jesus in us.
