“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my rock and my Redeemer.” Psalm 19:14
Once again today let’s direct our thoughts to things that are true, honorable, right and pure because when thoughts are firmly set thoughts on what is excellent in God’s sight and the meditation of our heart is acceptable then we will produce words from our mouths that are acceptable, and honoring to God. If need be ask Him to place an angel on your tongue. If you have to ask for help again tomorrow that’s OK; our rock and our Redeemer wants us to ask. Remember also that the more you dwell on Him the more likely it is that your thoughts, and consequently your words, will be pleasing to Him. Set your heart on Him today and everyday.
Years ago I complained to a friend about a situation that had hurt me deeply. A big part of me wanted to retaliate but I knew that in the particular situation retaliation would have only caused more hurt but if I could just say something to the person who had hurt me. My friend exhorted me to imagine that I had an angel sitting on my tongue. It helped get my thoughts back on track and now I often think of having an angel on my tongue when my thoughts might lead me to say something that could be hurtful to another and displeasing to the Lord.
