“Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:32
Jesus said "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden…” Matthew 5:14. It is kindness motivated by God’s love that fuels that light; after all isn’t it love that is supposed to set Christian’s apart from the world? What better way for that love to be demonstrated than through genuine kindness, not just extended to fellow Christians but to the world at large. Kindness, tenderness and forgiveness are often in short supply in the world but God’s Word commands us to do unto others as God in Christ also has done unto us and in so doing we draw others to Him.
Telling the world about what Christ has done for us isn’t nearly as effective as living out before them the kindness, tenderness and forgiveness He first extended to us through His love. Demonstrating His love and kindness is the way we are a beacon of light in a lost, harsh and often unforgiving world.
