Who Are You Trying to Please?

“The fear of man brings a snare, but he who trusts in the Lord will be exalted.” Proverbs 29:25

Have you ever neglected to speak the truth in love out of fear of how another might respond? I missed an opportunity recently to share God’s love and to minister truth because I feared another’s rejection instead of trusting in Him even after declaring that I would specifically trust Him for guidance in this matter. How I regret it; especially if my fear of man might be responsible for a snare in the life of that precious individual. God certainly was not exalted by my response in that moment which produced a watered down version of what I felt He was directing me to say. Once again, I commit this day to Him and I will trust Him and seek to exalt Him as I strive to grow in grace and always speak His truth in love.

I’ve missed more than one precious opportunity very simply because I‘ve been caught off guard or because I was a little intimidated by a situation. I’ve learned valuable lessons about trusting the Lord, rather than fearing the response of others, because we often have very limited opportunity to minister truth and if we do not take advantage of those opportunities a snare will surely be the result. Trust Him and don’t be responsible for creating a snare for another out of fear of how God’s truth might be received.
