Pick Yourself Up and Dust Yourself Off

“For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again, but the wicked stumble in time of calamity.” Proverbs 24:16

I am so thankful today that my Heavenly Father has always been there to help me up when I have fallen, and I have fallen many times. I’m thankful for His grace and mercy and that He doesn’t remind me of my falls yet no matter how many times I do fall I am able, with His help, to begin again and the slate is wiped clean. I also know what it is like to ‘wallow’ in self pity and calamity; not a pleasant way to live. When we ask Him to use our every weakness and our every mistake so that His grace and His glory might be manifested in us, we’ll be far less likely to stumble over those things but the important thing to remember is that if you do trip you just need to rise again, brush off the dust and continue on.

I don’t really believe that anyone likes to live in calamity but there are some who truly lack the will, the desire or the know how to pick themselves up when they’ve fallen. Please refer to Jeremiah 29:11 to know that calamity is not a part of what God has planned for His children. I can’t imagine preferring to wallow in that over living in the righteousness of God.
