“Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.” Proverbs 27:1
Have you ever made plans that fell completely through before you were even finished with the planning? Of course, there are certain things that should be planned for like retirement and college but we can never know what the future has in store; we’re not even guaranteed the next five minutes, that is why it is so important that we acknowledge God’s sovereignty over every area of our lives and over every plan we make. When we don’t invite His plans to take precedence over ours we set ourselves up for disappointment, bitterness, anger and even failure. We truly can never know what a day will bring forth!
I’ve learned (the hard way) to be content with what I have today while trusting Him with the future. When I make plans for anything I always try to consider that He may have a completely different path for me to take because He is Lord of all and when I acknowledge His sovereignty over every area of my life I am far less likely to be disappointed when my finite plans fall through.
