Good Fruit or Sour Grapes?

"For there is no good tree which produces bad fruit, nor, on the other hand, a bad tree which produces good fruit. For each tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they pick grapes from a briar bush.” Luke 6:43-44

A tree is most definitely known by its fruit! Are you producing the fruit of the Holy Spirit within; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control? That’s good fruit from the best possible source and the produce by which all Christians should be known. Without the Holy Spirit within producing such fruit is rather like trying to gather figs from thorns or grapes from a briar bush. You can pretend the fruit is there once in awhile but soon the true nature of what is within will make itself known. That’s what I call sour grapes – it might look pleasing to the eye but when you take a bite you’re no longer fooled.
