By Faith

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the men of old gained approval. By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible.” Hebrews 11:1-3

Do you, as I do, hope for things that seem out of reach at this present time? I truly see no tangible evidence that many of the things I hope for will ever come to pass but I know that I can have complete confidence in the fact that God knows and understands my hopes and dreams and He is at work in every area of my life even though I am as yet unable to see the manifestation of His workings. Of course, I pray that I don’t really want anything for myself or my loved ones that doesn’t line up with His Word and His perfect will for each one of us so I will simply continue to hope that in my every desire His will is going to prevail. I ask today for faith to hope and faith to believe that He is working mightily even when I don’t see it.

I have written the word ‘confidence’ next to this verse in the margin of my bible. I am so thankful that my hope is grounded in faith and belief in God’s word and not just in my own wishful thinking. We can have complete confidence in the One whose work it is that we are waiting and hoping for.
