Friend or Foe?

“Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but deceitful are the kisses of an enemy.” Proverbs 27:6

A faithful friend is a real treasure. A friend loves at all times and along with friendship may come the task of occasionally having to speak the truth in love. A friend will never lead you down a wrong path or have anything but your very best interest at heart; even when that truth might be difficult to receive. Be the kind of friend who would always know when to speak truth to another and make sure every word and action would be motivated by God’s love. I’m always sorry when I’ve spoken only what I knew another wanted to hear in order to avoid conflict; that’s not love. And I have occasionally resented it when He sent His word to me through another because it wasn’t what I wanted to hear; forgive me, Lord. One who only tells you what makes you feel good is not a friend at all.

Remember, a true friend is a reflection of His love for you. Thank you, Lord, for the blessing of friends and for their faithfulness and willingness to speak the truth in love even if it might be painful!
