Consumed

“Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; for our God is a consuming fire.” Hebrews 12:28-29

Do you sometimes feel like your resources are being consumed faster than you can replace them in today’s economy? Isn’t it good to know that no matter how bad the world’s economy gets we are part of a kingdom that cannot be shaken? As citizens of this kingdom we certainly have privileges that the world does not have but we also have responsibilities; we must live reverently and offer to God an acceptable service by using the gifts and talents He has given us with an attitude of gratitude. I know that He has blessed me in so many ways and I am truly in awe of His holiness, His creation, His omnipotence and His grace. I pray today that everything I do, say and think reflects my gratitude for all that He has done for me. We are truly a blessed people and I’m sorry to say that all too often my prayers are more selfish than grateful but today I will ask ‘How can I serve You today, Father’?

My service to Him seems so small in comparison to all He has done for me. I pray that my attitude would always be one of gratitude to the One who has consumed me by His love.
