Walk in Peace

“Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” Ephesians 4:1-3

You probably realize by now that the peace which comes from the Prince of Peace is not peace as the world might define it. Nations are, and always have been, at war with one another and peace between some nations seems more unattainable with every passing day. There is no security, by the world’s definition, to be found and there never will be peace in the world as we know it. We live under the constant threat of terrorism and even the most orderly, law-abiding community cannot guarantee peace or even safety for its citizens. In fact, peace, like joy, is often more readily appreciated when it is missing, but we can know true peace when we walk according to His calling and in practicing those things that promote peace in our lives; like humility, gentleness, patience and love.

In a chaotic world that knows no peace we are to walk in such a manner as to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace and live according to His standards, not the worlds.
