Be Still and Know

“Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10

I love the New American Standard version of the Bible and use it almost exclusively when I study but I love the way the King James Version translates the first part of this verse; “Be still, and know that I am God.” I’m so glad that we were never meant to try to figure everything out on our own, fight our own battles, find our own way through life or even just get through the day. God has a plan and we are first and foremost to call upon Him for help, not after the fact when we’ve tried everything we can think of to no avail. When I get still and listen to His voice I can almost always hear Him say ‘stop trying so hard to do it all on your own, let Me have the trial, the problem or the situation and I will provide the best solution and that solution will not only benefit you, it bring honor and glory to Me.’ That’s when I know I must cease striving, know that He is God and allow Him to handle those things that only He can.

I’ve probably said this a few times already but I think it bears repeating over and over again; we were never meant to get through this life and all its challenges alone. Do you know Who you can give your problems to? Won’t you cease striving today? Be still and know that He is God and He will be exalted as you give your problems to Him.
