Your Best Work For Him

“Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.” Colossians 3:23-24

There are just some things I like to do more than others. I like to sit at my computer and write so I find doing so as for the Lord a relatively easy thing to accomplish. I don’t always approach menial tasks like dishwashing or laundry quite so heartily. I’ve come to realize though that everything we do in life has eternal consequences (at least to some degree), even the things that others don’t seem to notice because it is those things that we do when no one else is watching that proves our character and our integrity. I’ve found when I’m faced with a task I don’t particularly like that if I tell the Lord I’m performing that task as unto Him it becomes much easier and I find myself actually enjoying the work.

No matter what line of work you are in there are always going to be tasks that are not fun or challenging (like laundry and dishes). Next time you’re faced with one of those tasks try offering that work to the Lord, you’ll probably do the work faster, better and more cheerfully and you’ll please the Lord (and others) in the process.
