“But now also, put aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth.” Colossians 3:8
Read on: “Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices, and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him—“ Colossians 3:9-10. Anger, wrath, malice, slander and abusive speech, as well as lying are very destructive forces (evil practices) and have no place in the lives of those who are called of God. When my mind is renewed on a daily basis I need less help putting certain of these things aside than I once did and find that I am truly mindful of the fact that it is my hearts desire to put aside all that is associated with the old self. I certainly have not perfected this but I want never to dishonor the One who created me in His image. We must remember that we are Christ’s representatives and should never speak or behave in such a way that others are turned away from Him and these evil practices are sure to do just that.
I’m so thankful when I can see His hand at work in my life and I give Him the praise and the glory for every victory because He is my righteousness! You can know that God is working in your life when situations and circumstances that once angered you or might have caused you to react with malicious thoughts or slanderous speech now cause you only godly sorrow.
