“The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord. All the ways of a man are clean in his own sight, but the Lord weighs the motives. Commit your works to the Lord and your plans will be established.” Proverbs 16:1-3
I pray that I would always be sensitive to the steps God is ordering and able to recognize the doors He is opening to me. I pray that the Holy Spirit will empower me to speak up when He gives a word or to discern when it is better to just listen. Today I will ask Him to search my heart and examine my motives and I pray that both will be pleasing to Him. I pray that my plans would be in accordance with His plans and that my ways would always be about Him; not me. I commit myself to the Lord today as I ask Him to establish my plans and weigh my motives. Have you committed your works to the Lord today?
I have been frustrated from time to time when plans have fallen through only to realize later on that I’d made my plans, without committing them to the Lord. Even the best laid plans and the most God honoring works won’t please Him if our motives don’t line up with His will and His plan for our lives.
