Don’t Let Your Mind Wander

“We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5

I’m afraid I have to admit that my every thought is not always truly captive to His obedience. I have to ask for His help frequently because when He holds my thoughts I’m more in step with His plan for my life, I’m less inclined to worry, fear or doubt and when my thoughts are captive to the obedience of Christ I’m not nearly as apt to try to do the things He’s called me to do on my own steam. I have to ask Him daily to keep me from devising my own schemes to get His work done and to help me to hold my imagination in check as well. Captivate my thoughts today Lord, Jesus, hold them tightly so that my wandering mind won’t get in the way of what you have in store for me.

A wandering mind is usually followed very closely by destructive speculations and lofty things that are contrary to the word of God. Thankfully by allowing Christ to take our thoughts captive every last one of those ugly thoughts and speculations can be destroyed!
