“But as for me, I shall sing of Your strength; Yes, I shall joyfully sing of Your lovingkindness in the morning, For You have been my stronghold And a refuge in the day of my distress.” Psalm 59:16
We have prayed for a situation in the life of someone very dear to us for years and when we pray we specifically ask that the Lord would tear down certain strongholds in this dear ones life. Webster’s dictionary defines a stronghold as ‘a fortified place’ and strongholds come in many forms; for some they are habits and addictions and for some there are strongholds of pride or ideology. Do you realize that there are many people bound by the enemy who can’t bring themselves to call out to God for deliverance because of those very things that bind them? They think they have to clean up or get straightened out before they ask Him to help them because they feel unclean and unworthy. A stronghold is anything that the enemy has fortified in our life to an extent that keeps us from experiencing the Lord’s lovingkindness and living freely in His love.
If you are praying for someone who is bound by strongholds don’t give up. Has a habit or a problem kept you from crying out to Him? If so please know that you can take immediate refuge in Him and He will replace whatever stronghold Satan is using against you with His lovingkindness and His strength.
