Hot Potatoes

“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:6-7

Isn’t it wonderful that we have a Heavenly Father Who is not only very capable of handling every problem we lay at His feet He welcomes those problems. In fact, not giving those problems to Him is often an act of pride. The Greek word for ‘casting’ in this verse means literally ‘to throw upon’. We were never meant to bear our burdens alone (see Galatians 6:2), not even the ones we’ve created for ourselves and aren’t those the problems that cause us the most anxiety and aren’t those the very problems we feel we have a duty to fix on our own? No matter what the problem, know this: His way of fixing our problems, any of our problems is so much better and so much more complete than any solution we could ever come up with on our own.

Think of your cares, your burdens and all your anxiety as though they were hot potatoes and throw them upon Him today. Not only does He care for you, He has a plan for taking care of you burdens. Humble yourself under His hand so that at the proper time He will exalt you.
