“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!” Philippians 4:4
I hope you will join me today in rejoicing in the Lord and praising Him, no matter what is going on in the world around you. But what if you don’t feel like praising Him today (and I have to admit that there are some days like that for me.) We all have days that we either get up on the wrong side of the bed or things start to go wrong the minute our feet hit the floor. On those days I know I just want to grumble and wallow in the circumstances that have turned my eyes away from the Lord. When that happens to me I know I’m not much of a blessing to anyone else because I’m afraid I’m one who really can’t hide her feelings too well. However, according to this particular verse of scripture we are to rejoice in the Lord always, whether we feel like it or not. Remember, these words were written from a jail cell! Besides, I’ve found, as I believe Paul did, that when we rejoice in Him those circumstances start to look not quite so bad after all.
It isn’t our circumstances that we are to rejoice in but the Lord; always. Our circumstances can deceive us and cause us to take our eyes off the Lord so we are to rejoice in Him no matter what goes on in the world around us.
