Without Ceasing

“Rejoice always; pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” I Thessalonians 5:16-18

Let’s look at joy once again. Is the Lord teaching you daily to rejoice in Him always, no matter what situations or circumstances you may be facing? When we communicate with Him as often as we should that is exactly what He teaches us as He teaches us to trust Him and as He shows us He is sovereign over all that we face. According to this Word we should praise Him and thank Him all day long because He is with us and this is His desire for His children. When we need help, we can ask Him for it freely and when we need peace, strength, joy or hope we can ask freely for those things as well. When we have an attitude of thanksgiving and we’ve given Him first place in our hearts He will put a song of joy in our hearts in return. When He is continually at the forefront of our minds we will rejoice always and will pray without ceasing.

When my late mother used to visit she would talk to me non-stop; sometimes following me from room to room while she carried on an often one-sided conversation. That now serves as my example of how my Father wants me to talk to Him – without ceasing!
