God First

“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33

God’s Word teaches us that when He created us, planned our lives and numbered our days He had only the very best in mind for us; just like we do for our own children. I certainly want everything that my Heavenly Father wants for me but sometimes my own selfish desires get in the way. Usually that is most likely to happen when I’ve failed to seek Him first and to seek His face and His plan for my life and when I fail to put Him first I also tend to forget that He will perform His Word in me. On the other hand, when I diligently look to Him to be my source, not only for my most basic physical needs, but to fulfill my deeper need for joy, peace, strength and righteousness I find all in abundance. You see, when God has first place in our hearts we gladly walk in the steps He has ordered and we can confidently trust Him to bless according to His Word and His plan for our lives. Seek Him first and just see what He will do!

Experience has taught me that when I truly want what He wants for me above all else I realize how much He’s already blessed me and I don’t even think about the things that I don’t have.
