“For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, so that no man may boast before God.” 1 Corinthians 1:26-29
If God has called you (and I believe that He has) you have a testimony that is probably very similar, at least in some ways to mine. How well I know that I am not wise in my own right or mighty in my own frail flesh. I gladly give my Heavenly Father the praise and the glory for everything I am, everything I have and everything I might ever accomplish and I pray that I would never boast or become proud concerning the things that He’s done in my life. Before He saved me I was a fool; I was weak and I lived shamefully in sin yet somehow He chose me and called me and I humbly give Him praise as I ask Him daily to help me to be all I can be in Him and as I give Him the glory for all He’s done in, for and through me.
I was recently engaged in conversation with a well educated individual who almost made me feel like a simpleton for expressing my faith. I say almost because I came away from that conversation with this verse at the forefront of my mind. God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise and sadly, the world’s wisdom can’t even begin to comprehend that simple faith.
