A New Year, a New Song

“O sing to the LORD a new song, for He has done wonderful things, His right hand and His holy arm have gained the victory for Him.” Psalm 98:1

Traditionally the New Year is a time of renewal. We make resolutions, pledge to do things differently (and better), we vow to lose weight or get out of debt or pledge to break bad habits and cultivate healthier ones. But the close of the old year also brings an opportunity for reflection and as you look back on 2008 I doubt you can count all the wonderful things the Lord has done! I know I can’t. Even in the face of disappointments and difficulties I realize He has indeed moved mightily in so many ways and I give Him the praise and glory that He is holy and sovereign over every situation and circumstance that touches my life. Praise Him for every victory and accomplishment in the past and believe that 2009 is going to be a year in which He once again proves Himself mighty. Because of His right hand and His holy arm we truly have reason to rejoice and look forward to even more victories to come. Thank Him today for His hand upon your life and sing that new song of victory as you begin this glorious New Year and remember that every day is a new beginning as well.

There is no better time than the beginning of a new year (or the beginning of a new day for that matter) to sing a new song to the Lord. He has truly done great and wonderful things and I have every reason to believe that 2009 will bring more of the same. God bless you as you begin this New Year!
